| Maggie is an experienced tour leader, having accompanied many groups to the ancient sites of Turkey, Crete and Jordan for Prospect Art Tours as well as leading other groups. More recently, whilst living in Italy for some years, she has taken private tours to Campania and to Rome, Florence and Venice. (testimonials) For several years (1985-2000) Maggie lectured on the art and archaeology of Western Asia for the British Museum’s Education Department. She made accessible to the general public the museum’s collection of artefacts from the region, giving talks in the galleries and lunchtime lectures. She has also taught ancient history at adult education institutes and for university further education programmes. She is a graduate of the University of London where she studied Ancient Near Eastern history and Akkadian (University College & SOAS) She is currently writing a biography of a 19th.century scholar, diplomat and early collector of Near Eastern antiquities. | Maggie will organise tours to Turkey to meet the specific requirements of any private group of between 8 - 20 max, depending on routing etc. All practical travel, flights and land arrangements are in the hands of the very experienced ATOL bonded tour operator, Oasis Tours. Long weekend city breaks (eg Istanbul, Bursa etc) can be organised for groups wanting to become more than superficially acquainted with the history and culture of these places. | |
